This session will focus on the recent updates to the Uniform Grant Guidance (as adopted by the Education Department General Administrative Regulations) that went into effect on November 12, 2020, which will be applicable to State-administered programs on July 1, 2021. This includes changes to allowability, closeout requirements, procurement, and subrecipient monitoring. This will also include likely updates to the internal policies and procedures that all non-federal entities must maintain. Attendees will also be afforded the opportunity to ask questions on federal grants management.

SESSION D: Developing a Comprehensive Needs Assessment
Facilitators: Lesli Laughter

Thursday, March 11, 2021
11:00 AM - 1:30 PM Eastern Time

Schools have conducted needs assessments for years. So, why offer another session on developing one? Two reasons: ESSA and COVID. ESSA’s flexibility brings added responsibility for LEAs, including responding to a range of needs assessment requirements which can differ by federal program. Come identify how you can be sure your needs assessment is comprehensive, meeting all requirements for each applicable federal program. The second reason for this session is because of COVID-19. Never have educators felt more urgency and concern about student learning than now. Are the systems and strategies schools depend on still effective? The CNA process helps educators successfully identify, understand, and better address challenges and learning gaps. We must conduct the CNA with a fresh, robust approach if we are ever to fully understand how the newly added pieces of our complex educational system can effectively interact. Are you ready to explore a CNA process that works with state planning requirements and/or templates? Come discover how to use your “2020 hindsight” to make 21-22 the best school year yet.

Disclaimer: You may recognize Lesli as someone associated with one of our exhibitors. However, this session is solely based upon former attendees request and her 30+ years of assessing school progress through data analysis and needs assessments. It is not a sales presentation. All tips, tools and content presented can be used in any school.
